The Winter Olympics have wrapped up, but the fire is just getting started. Join us this Sunday for the most anticipated Chinese New Year in Milano.
The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics brought the world to Milan’s doorstep. Now, as the Olympic flame goes out and the winter ice melts, spring is officially returning to the city, and with it, the traditional Chinese Spring Festival. With the Piazza Sempione cleared of Olympic installations, the highly anticipated parade agenda is officially back on!
This Sunday, March 1st, the iconic Chinese Dragon Parade is taking over Arco della Pace. Whether you are a lifelong Milanese local or a visitor experiencing our vibrant community for the first time, this Sunday’s massive Dragon Parade is a cultural milestone you do not want to miss.

The Zodiac: The Year of the Fire Horse
This year, we do not just celebrate the Horse; we welcome the specific sign of the Fire Horse. According to the lunar calendar and Chinese astrology, this sign represents intense energy, independence, courage, and rapid transformation. It signifies a period of profound renewal and dynamic progress. To honor this powerful symbol, the Chinese-Italian community of Milano is preparing a celebration larger and more spectacular than ever before!
What to Expect
As the festival’s popularity has grown massively over the years, the heart of the parade is shifting to Piazza Sempione (situated directly in front of Arco della Pace and just a stone’s throw away from Chinatown in Via Paolo Sarpi). This larger venue ensures the performers have the expansive space they need.
Attendees can expect to see the legendary Lion and Dragon Dances, breathtaking martial arts demonstrations, traditional music, and intricate historical costumes.
A Feast for the Senses: Come hungry. From steaming dumplings (jiaozi) and baozi to traditional sweet treats, the local vendors of Chinatown will be serving Milano’s best authentic festival food. Please be advised to anticipate bustling crowds and a lively, high-energy environment throughout the neighborhood.
